Grilled Cabbage Steaks with Bacon and Green Onions
INGREDIENTS:
-
1 large head of green cabbage
-
3 tablespoons olive oil
-
2 teaspoons steak seasoning, to taste
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
-
3 green onions, chopped
-
Optional: balsamic glaze for drizzling
INSTRUCTIONS:
-
Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F/200°C).
-
Prepare the Cabbage: Remove any loose or damaged outer leaves from the cabbage. Slice the cabbage into 3/4-inch thick rounds. Try to keep the core intact in each slice to hold them together.
-
Season the Cabbage Steaks: Brush both sides of the cabbage slices with olive oil. Season each side with steak seasoning, salt, and pepper.
-
Grill the Cabbage: Place the cabbage slices directly on the grill grates. Grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until you see nice grill marks and the cabbage is tender. Be careful when flipping to avoid breaking the slices.
-
Prepare the Toppings: While the cabbage is grilling, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain on paper towels and crumble. Chop the green onions.
-
Assemble and Serve: Once the cabbage steaks are done, transfer them to a serving platter. Top each cabbage steak with crumbled bacon and chopped green onions. If desired, drizzle with balsamic glaze for an extra touch of flavor.
-
Enjoy: Serve the grilled cabbage steaks hot as a side dish or a main course.
TIPS:
-
For an extra layer of flavor, you can add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving.
-
If you don’t have a grill, you can also roast the cabbage steaks in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Enjoy your delicious and healthy cabbage steaks!
