Define Your Priorities for Goal-Setting
Do you feel like you’re always busy, but never get anything DONE? You’re not alone.
One of the things that contributes to stress the most is a lack of focus in our lives. When we’re pulled in a million different directions, how do we choose which way to go? Not having a clear set of priorities makes it impossible to choose. We end up feeling as if we have let someone down or worse yet… lost a piece of ourselves. Before we can live by our priorities we have to first DEFINE what they are. Here are some key questions to ask yourself:
- In five years, how would you like your life look different in a BETTER way? What will be better about your career, family life, relationships and financial situation? Visualize the changes. How will that feel?
- Which activities are you doing now that contribute THE MOST to where you want to be in the future? Which activities contribute THE LEAST? Each and every day, make an effort to eliminate or minimize the unproductive activities and add new, healthier ones.
- How will I invest my time differently moving forward to better align with my priorities? Do more of the things that are propelling you forward, and start to eliminate your time-wasters.
Keep in mind that time passes anyway. If you don’t take action on these goals NOW – a little bit each and every day – you’ll end up in the same situation you are now in five years. If you want your life to change, YOU have to change. It’s a change in mindset, a change in action, a change in habit.
